This is a very intense sport and you need to be very strong to be good. The Olympics have been great gathering places in ancient times because and was a great honor to the gods, because it is the biggest sporting event in the world, and because there is an Olympic sport for everyone. First, in 1896 the Olympics were resurrected and have come back with all new sports like hockey, tennis, basketball, and many other sports (Rosenberg). The first modern Olympics were held in Athens because this was the birth place of the Olympics (Rosenberg). The Olympics were resurrected because people had to express themselves through sports (Rosenberg). The winners of the modern Olympics receive a gold medal if you receive first, a silver medal for second, and bronze for third (Rosenberg). The summer Olympics have been going for a very long time (Rosenberg). But the winter Olympics were not added until 1924 (Rosenberg). The modern Olympics have made much advancement for sports and brought countries from around the world to one continent to compete.
Second, many people’s favorite sport in the winter Olympics is the bobsled. They like to watch bobsled because of the high speeds and steep turns. Many people also found out that some members of the US Olympic bobsled team were NFL football players (Zillgitt). The US Olympic bobsled team practices in lake placid, NY (Zillgitt). They practice here because it is one of the few bobsled tracks. The chances the US had at the winter Olympics were very high because they had made gold at the Vancouver, Canada Olympics (Zillgitt). The top 4 bobsled team members are Justin Olsen, Steve Melser, Kurt tomasevicz, and Steve Holcomb (Zillgitt). The most favored country to win is Germany (Zillgitt) .They are predicted to win because they have the best stats.
